AnaMod® Announces REALIOS® Equalizer

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - October 18th, 2011) - AnaMod LLC (manufacturers of innovative analog modeled audio processors) will exhibit the A9052 equalizer; a companion 500 series equalizer module to its A9031 Olympic style microphone preamp. The A9052 is a faithful recreation of the Olympic recording desk equalizers with the addition of wider dynamic range and output drive capability.

The equalizer can handle signals roughly 6 dB greater than would normally be allowed in the 500 series due a step-down input transformer and step-up output transformer. It features the original Olympic 3 transistor gain makeup circuit as well as a new class-A output drive circuit.

AnaMod LLC's co-founder, Dave Amels states, "The frequencies and curve shapes of EQ are amazingly useful and musical. It's apparent that the designers of the Olympic desks really knew what they wanted."

The A9052 equalizer will be available Q1, 2012. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Expands REALIOS® Line

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - January 4th, 2011) - AnaMod LLC (manufacturers of innovative analog modeled audio processors) will exhibit a new type of audio compressor called TLCompressor (Tungsten Lamp Compressor) as part of its Realios line at the Winter NAMM show (booth 6254) in Anaheim. The TLCompressor uses a tungsten lamp for leveling the gain of an audio signal. This represents a method of audio compression unlike any other currently in production and provides distortion-less, artifact-less operation useful for difficult program material like female vocals, bass, and mixes.

AnaMod LLC's co-founder, Greg Gualtieri says, "The first time I heard the TLCompressor on a female vocal, it clearly demonstrated that the simplest audio path always sounds best."

The TLCompressor will be available Q1, 2011. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Announces XF Tube™

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - October 15th, 2010) - AnaMod LLC will be demonstrating the new XF Tube 500 series processor at the 2010 San Francisco AES Convention (booth 509). The XF Tube is a model based analog processor which emulates a two-stage tube and transformer amplifier. The XF Tube was created using the AnaMod Process™, which uses precise mathematical models to synthesize analog hardware, in this case, a tube amplifier. Unlike digital plug-ins or processor-based outboard gear, there is no latency, and no A/D or D/A conversions to compromise the sound.

AnaMod co-founder Greg Gualtieri states "AnaMod has mainly been known for using the AnaMod Process to emulate pre-existing equipment. This product is the first we've created to be something new—a generalized toolbox."

The XF Tube will be available Q1, 2011. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Announces REALIOS® Product Line

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - October 15th, 2010) - AnaMod LLC (manufacturers of innovative analog modeled audio processors) will exhibit the Realios line of microphone preamps at the 2010 San Francisco AES Convention (booth 509). The two models A9031 and A9033 represent very different types of microphone preamps. The first (A9031) is an exact copy of the vintage Dick Swettenham Helios design as modified and used by Lenny Kravitz and his engineer Henry Hirsch. The second (A9033) is an entirely new concept of microphone preamp whose gain is obtained entirely from step-up transformers and uses no negative feedback. Both preamplifiers are class-A and discrete transistor.

AnaMod LLC's co-founder, Dave Amels says, "I realize that AnaMod is known for creating audio processors using analog computer techniques but we're (AnaMod) not a one trick pony. It's still fun to design very high quality discrete microphone preamplifiers."

AnaMod® Announces Analog Modeled 670 Stereo Limiter

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - March 30th, 2009) - AnaMod will demonstrate the AM670 Stereo Limiter at the 2009 Frankfurt Music Messe (Hall 5.1, Booth D-94A) in Frankfurt Germany. The AM670 is a stereo 3U rackmount based on the technology of Anamod's successful AM660 500-series compressor introduced last year. Both the AM660 and AM670 were created by the AnaMod® Process. Precise mathematical models were created from the classic 1950s variable-mu 670 limiter. These models were used to synthesize the analog hardware of the AM670. Like the classic1950s variable-mu 670 limiter, the AM670 duplicates the Lateral / Vertical (mid / side) modes of compression while adding a stereo link function which was not present on original 1950s vacuum tube unit.

AnaMod's co-founder Greg Gualtieri says, "Having mid / side compression available in a buss limiter will be eye-opening for many engineers. You're able to independently control the amount of compression of the center of a mix while not affecting the extreme ends of a stereo mix and visa-versa."

Anamod will also be displaying the ATS-1, AM660, and AMEQP at the Musikmesse. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Announces Analog Modeled Equalizer

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - October 1st, 2008) - AnaMod will demonstrate the AMEQP analog-modeled passive equalizer at the 2008 San Francisco AES Convention (booth 1335). The AMEQP is compatible with the API 500 series format and represents the first analog equalizer created by the AnaMod® Process. Precise mathematical models were created from the classic 1950s Pultec EQP1A equalizer. These models were used to synthesize the analog hardware of the AMEQP.

AnaMod's co-founder Dave Amels says, "This is the third time the AnaMod® Process has been successfully used to model a classic piece of vintage gear." Greg Gualtieri adds, "The equalizer sounds great, and the layout of the controls makes it very easy to use."

Other important features of the AMEQP include a choice of soft or hard bypass, and six recallable global equalizer settings. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Announces ATR-102 Card For The ATS-1™

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - May 12th, 2008) - AnaMod will demonstrate the ATR-102 tape machine personality card for their ATS-1 (Analog Tape Simulator) at the 124th AES Convention in Amsterdam. This card is the fourth in a series of tape machine personality cards.

AnaMod's co-founder Dave Amels says, "The ATS-1 is definitely the easiest way for a person to hear the difference between four tape machines. You just rotate a switch. The ATR-102 card sounds both wonderful and distinctly different than the other tape machine personality cards in the ATS-1."

Orders are currently being accepted for the ATR-102 card for shipping on June 1st, 2008. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Announces Analog Modeled Compressor

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - December 7th, 2007) - AnaMod will demonstrate the AM660 compressor module at the 2008 Winter NAMM show (booth 4186) in Anaheim. The AM660 is compatible with the API 500 series rack and represents the first analog compressor created by the AnaMod® Process. Precise mathematical models were created from the classic 1950s variable-mu 660 compressor. These models were used to synthesize the analog hardware of the AM660.

AnaMod's co-founder Dave Amels says, "It's amazing that something solid-state and as small as the AM660 can sound and operate like the 45 pound original 660." Greg Gualtieri adds, "People will really understand how powerful a tool the AnaMod® Process is after they try the AM660."

Also on display at Winter NAMM is the highly popular ATS-1 (Analog Tape Simulator) along with the previously demonstrated optional 351 tape machine and 111 tape formulation cards. For more information email [email protected].

AnaMod® Announces New Accessories for the ATS-1 Analog Tape Simulator

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - October 2nd, 2007) - AnaMod will demonstrate two new analog plugin cards for the ATS-1 (analog tape simulator) at New York AES. The first one is a model of the Ampex 351 tape machine and the second one is for Scotch 111 tape. Greg Gualtieri says, "It's amazing to be able to hear the classic combination of 111 tape and a tube tape machine. So much of our musical culture was recorded this way and it gives me chills to hear it brought back via our analog models." The two new cards will ship Q1, 2008 with price to be determined.

Also to be announced at AES is the availability of the ATS-1 which will begin shipping on November 1st, 2007. The ATS-1 is available directly from AnaMod in the US and via distribution overseas. Orders are currently being accepted on the ATS-1.

Greg and Dave will demo the ATS-1 along with the new tape machine and tape stock model cards in AES booth #1018 on October 5th through the 8th. For more information email [email protected].

Amels And Gualtieri Team Up To Form AnaMod®

(Gillette, New Jersey, USA - January 10, 2007) - AnaMod will debut the first in a line of new analog audio products, the ATS-1 Analog Tape Simulator, at the 2007 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim. The ATS-1 is entirely analog, and is the first to be designed by a new technique called the AnaMod Process". Mathematical analysis similar to the type used to create DSP plugins is used to design analog audio processing hardware, eliminating the need to digitize the audio. This represents an entirely new way to design analog products using techniques that were previously only available to DSP designers.

AnaMod LLC is a new company founded by two well-known audio industry veterans, Dave Amels (Bomb Factory Digital and Voce), and Greg Gualtieri (Pendulum Audio).

"Dave and I were talking over dinner at AES a couple of years ago about mathematical models we use to analyze audio equipment" says Greg. "We found that we were both pulling on the same rope; Dave on the digital end and me on the analog end." Dave says, "My background is the analog world, so when I was creating digital plugins for Bomb Factory, I came to see how the two worlds were really the same."

The ATS-1 Analog Tape Simulator has all the important features of a two-track analog tape machine, including speed selection, bias, low frequency and high frequency EQ, and the option of adding tape hiss, if desired. It precisely models the behavior of specific tape machines and tape formulations, and allows the user to select from up to four machine and tape types. Optional machine and tape types will be available on easy-to-install SIMM cards. Unlike digital plug-ins or processor-based outboard gear, there is no latency, and no A/D or D/A conversions to compromise the sound.

Orders will be taken at NAMM with shipments beginning in the second half of Q1 of 2007.

Greg and Dave will demo the ATS-1 in booth #6254.
